I wanted to share with you some info that I thought was out of the ordinary about the Wizard of Oz...all from the Official 50th. Anniversary Pictorial History Book!
I never heard this story before...this is about Margaret Hamilton..the Wicked Witch...they were doing a take of her exiting the tiny village...she was severely burned when the fire effect surrounding her trapdoor/elevator was set off a couple of seconds too soon...her hat, broom, and hair caught fire..her face and hand were also burned....thank God she recovered and returned...she was the absolute best Wicked Witch there could ever be!
So scary yet so cute...close-ups were made of the monkey make up and nearly 30 years later it became the forerunner of the make up used in the movie "Planet of the Apes"
I hope you enjoyed your time here and please don't forget to leave a comment for a chance to win...also... I would be honored if you become one of my followers...and remember.."THE DREAMS THAT YOU DARE TO DREAM REALLY DO COME TRUE."
Fantastic Deb! Wow, alot of interesting facts you got on The Wizard of Oz! I never knew about the fire, for the lady who played the wicked witch! The dresses for Dororthy! How cute!
